Eggs by Marilyn Singer
Short, readable books like this make it easy to slip science into any day of the week. In 32 pages, with plenty of illustrations, we see insect eggs, amphibian and reptile eggs, fish eggs and, of course, bird eggs.
You will want to add An Egg is Quiet by Diana Hutts Aston for even more information. Sylvia Long's illustrations are fabulous and detailed. She labels the different kinds of eggs, so each page is full of surprise and exploration ... without disturbing any animals.

Will's Mammoth by Rafe Martin (1989)
Will loved woolly mammoths, and he knew that he could find them, despite his parents telling him they were long extinct. It is Will's incredible imagination that brings the woolly mammoth back. The wordless pages that follow are full of blowing snow, danger from sabertooth cats, and other prehistoric creatures. Will's adventure ends only when he is called in for dinner.
Dreamers everywhere will enjoy this book over and over. Even the text of the story is artfully part of the story, with colorful non-standard letters forming rainbow words.
